The S-Monovette® HCY-C is specially designed for homocysteine determination and ensures sample stability for 6 hours at room temperature or 48 hours at 4°C. After blood collection, erythrocytes in the sample continue to produce homocysteine that diffuses into the serum/plasma at a constant increase of approximately 10% per hour. To prevent this increase in conventional systems, the serum/plasma must be separated within 30 minutes after centrifugation.
